Women's Leadership Council

United Way Silicon Valley Women’s Leadership Council was created by women for women who want to engage hands-on to drive community change. The Council inspires and develops women to be role models of generosity, volunteers for change and advocates for important causes.

United Way Women's Leadership Council focuses on early childhood literacy and invests in programs that are designed to achieve measurable results in education especially early childhood literacy. Here's why:

  • A quality education is essential to future success
  • Literacy skills are critical for succeeding at school and in life
  • A child who can't read at grade level by the end of third grade is 4 times less likely to graduate high school on time

Angela Carter talks about what giving to the community means to her.

Megan Conway shares why WLC's focus on early childhood literacy is important to her.
