United Way Silicon Valley Programs are Achieving Measurable Results
Basic Needs
- 211 Santa Clara County. 211 connects people to programs and services that can help improve their lives.
- Emergency Assistance Network. The Emergency Assistance Network provides a variety of services to prevent homelessness and act as a safety net for residents facing eviction, utility disconnection and hunger.
Income
- Bank on San Jose. Bank on San Jose provides opportunities for individuals to open checking and personal savings accounts, build a credit history, gain access to lower-cost sources of credit, and invest in their future.
- Credit Coaching. Credit Coaching matches trained volunteers with hard working individuals and families in Santa Clara County who are interested in improving their credit and financial management skills.
- Earn It! Keep It! Save It! Santa Clara County. United Way Silicon Valley partners with the IRS and other organizations to offer free tax assistance to local families and individuals who don’t earn a high wage.
Education
- Early Literacy Mentoring. Volunteers work with children in kindergarten and 1st grade in East San Jose to increase reading and early literacy skills.
- High School Mentoring. Volunteers mentor and tutor local San Jose high school students.
