Non profit Effectiveness Fund
The Fund was intended to help organizations learn more about gaining organizational efficiencies and support nonprofit strategic re-structuring or merger. The Silicon Valley Nonprofit Effectiveness Fund was a pilot project and made possible thanks to the generosity of The David and Lucile Packard Foundation and the Applied Materials Foundation
United Way Silicon Valley hosted a series of workshops for local non-profits to assess interest, usefulness and input on design. Workshop topics ranged from the basics of nonprofit partnerships to assessing an organization's readiness for a merger.
A component of the Fund provided individualized grants to support nonprofit organizations for activities that would help organizations rethink and regroup in response to the downturn in the economy. More than a dozen projects were assisted through this component. It supported efforts to restructure or merge that leveraged the organizations' social capital for mission impact.
Update
The Nonprofit Effectiveness Fund is closed and will not be accepting new applications until further notice. Please check back regularly for updates about the Fund. We recognize there are many organizations who may yet be interested in this Fund. United Way is seeking additional financial support to reinstate the Fund.
