Big Four Accounting Firms Raise $954,471Â Â for United Way Silicon Valley
Accounting firm KPMG won the coveted Big Four Challenge Cup for its efforts to improve local people's lives through employee contributions to United Way. Collectively, Deloitte, Ernst & Young, KPMG, and PricewaterhouseCoopers raised $954,471 - a 31.59% increase over last year's total - through United Way's 2007 Annual Workplace Giving Campaign.Â
"United Way Silicon Valley does an outstanding job of bringing much-needed programs and services to the people of Santa Clara County, and KPMG employees are proud to support the organization," said Stan Anders, managing partner of the Silicon Valley office of KPMG LLP. "While we are thrilled to win this year's Big Four Challenge, we are especially proud of the way our local partners and employees came together to raise more than $300,000 to benefit the community. By teaming with United Way, we are able to dramatically improve the community where we live and work, which is one of KPMG's core values."
The Big Four Challenge Cup was passed to KPMG from last year's winner Deloitte. Rick Fezell, a partner at Ernst & Young, and 2006 and 2007 United Way chair, is a driving force behind the challenge event.
