Volunteer: Read to a Child on March 2nd

"You're never too old, too wacky, too wild, to pick up a book and read to a child."
(Theodor Seuss Geisel, writer and cartoonist, most widely known for his children's books written under his pen name, Dr. Seuss)

Join us as we celebrate Dr. Seuss's birthday on March 2nd by reading to a child!
Read Across America Day, observed each year on the birth date of Dr. Seuss, is a day solely dedicated to celebrating reading. Dr. Seuss epitomizes a love of children and learning and by celebrating his birthday we send a clear message to children that reading is fun and important.

Date: Friday March 2, 2012
Time: Morning and afternoon shifts available
Location: East San Jose Elementary Schools

Register Now: Dedicate an hour on March 2nd to spread the joy of reading to students attending San Antonio, Cesar Chavez or Dorsa Elementary School in East San Jose. Pick the time and grade level you would like to read with and enjoy an hour of reading with the students. It’s that simple.

Help us by volunteering one hour of your time as we work to bring the joy of reading to every child we can reach on this day.

When you read 20 minutes a day to a child, you give them a million words a year.

United Way Silicon Valley education programs help to give every child an even start to lifelong success.
