United Way: Silicon Valley agency aims to help families bring about change
Not long ago, I heard a lecture about the mistake that nonprofits and governments often make when they try to create change in struggling communities.
Change, the speaker said, doesn't happen because institutions orchestrate it. Change begins at kitchen tables and in driveway conversations. It incubates on soccer fields and at PTO meetings. It happens when people decide they're ready for it.
