United Way Silicon Valley wants to thank Target for their generous support of our 2011 giving campaign. The generosity of their employees throughout Santa Clara County exemplifies Target’s extraordinary nation-wide commitment to improving lives and local communities.

During this year’s campaign, Target employees contributed over $70,000 to the Community Action Fund, contributions that are vital to improving the lives of individuals in Silicon Valley. Nearly 1,400 Target employees participated in the campaign this year, which is the highest participation rate in the history of our partnership. Target works to strengthen our local communities in many ways, beyond the annual giving campaign.  Each year, Target team members donate thousands of hours to volunteerism and local stores donate over 100 free flu shot vouchers to families in need. This holiday season, Target will again donate over 40 beautifully decorated Christmas trees to individuals and families in our community through their Target Share-A-Tree program.

As a company, Target has given 5% of their total income to the communities they serve, which adds up to $3 million every week, and they are now on track to reach a total of $1 billion in giving to education by the end of 2015. At Target, they know that strong businesses thrive in strong communities, and they have made community engagement and social responsibility hallmarks of their brand. Thank you to Target and local Target team members for answering the call to LIVE UNITED.
