Corporate Spotlight: Western Digital Corporation (WDC) Spotlight
Western Digital Corporation employees serve our community in numerous ways including: collecting food for Sacred Heart’s Food Pantry; providing school supplies for Family Giving Tree’s backpack drive; gathering holiday gifts for the company’s internal ‘Season of Giving’ drive, and by furnishing warm clothing and coats to homeless shelters. Recently, HGST, a WDC company, donated use of one of its warehouses to hold thousands of donated gifts for United Way’s Holiday Giving program. WDC employee teams also volunteered as judges for a Science Fair competition, readers in a ‘Raising a Reader’ book project, and as mentors for science students. Western Digital Corporation’s ultimate goal is to help provide a solid foundation of education for individuals in the community.
The company’s spirit of giving continues through its U.S. Employee Giving and Matching Gifts Programs. In 2014, WDC employees raised $1.35M locally, with $219K going directly to United Way Silicon Valley’s Community Action Fund. Nationally, Western Digital Corporation employees raised $3.28M. More than 70% of WDC’s employee and company contributions go to benefit schools, educational institutions, health and human services organizations and other United Ways. Western Digital Corporation and its employees exemplify philanthropic leadership – showing how a group of committed individuals can positively change the community.
