Aspirational Goals
To drive positive community change, United Way Silicon Valley helps people help themselves by identifying critical needs, mobilizing the caring power of the community, and aligning resources to achieve the best solutions.
For the past five years, United Ways Silicon Valley has focused its efforts on supporting and driving programs that improve income, education, and health. The organization's focused approach has helped tens of thousands of individuals, made it a leading expert on human needs in Silicon Valley and provided focus and discipline that has led to strengthened business operations and financial performance.
Over the next three years, however, much more work must be achieved -- for the community, and for United Way Silicon Valley. The organization must move to a strategy of mobilizing the community to act on behalf of positive social change that improves the lives of all residents.
United Way Silicon Valley will mobilize the community around the achievement of three Aspirational Goals by 2013:
EDUCATION: The ethnic/racial achievement
gap in local schools drops to 30% from 44%
INCOME: Economic self-sufficiency is achieved
by 4 out of 5 households, up from the current 3 out of 4
