Alternative Spring Break, March 27 thru March 29, will be a collaborative effort between United Way Silicon Valley and United Way Silicon Valley partner, San Jose Day Nursery, to educate and provide an opportunity to engage students in the work of United Way Silicon Valley.
With United Way Silicon Valley taking the lead and funding the project, we will be giving a much needed remodel to San Jose Day Nursery’s backyard. An area utilized heavily by both staff and children, volunteers will be painting new murals, mulch appropriate areas, build some new components and much more. San Jose Day Nursery uses this outdoor area in all aspects of their programs, but most importantly the space provides a safe place for students to openly play. Student volunteers will lend the critical hands needed to accomplish this task! Along the way, volunteers will learn about the role United Way Silicon Valley plays in mobilizing change in our community through partnerships.
Volunteers are needed Friday March 27th thru Sunday March 29, from 9:00am - 2:00pm each day. Volunteers have the option of volunteering from 1 to all 3 of the days, depending on their availability. There will also be a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony open to all volunteers on Sunday March 30 from 2:00pm to 3:30pm.
