Early Childhood Education

From birth to age six, children develop physical and mental skills faster than any other time period in their lives. Unfortunately, this critical learning window does not coincide with attending school. The early nurturing provided by family and caregivers, however, can significantly influence a child’s future performance in school. The programs and initiatives highlighted below support young children and their parents.

Santa Clara County Partnership for School Readiness
A collaboration of early childhood organizations links needs of young children with community resources to improve their health and increase their reading readiness and school preparation. United Way Silicon Valley serves as an active member of the collaborative and provides financial oversight as fiscal agent. Click here to learn more.

Born Learning
United Way Silicon Valley introduced Born Learning into the community in 2005. The Born Learning program provides educational materials and tips for parents and caregivers and encourages activities that support growth and development in children.
