211 Santa Clara County

Overview

211 Santa Clara County, a program of United Way Silicon Valley, is the dialing code for free, non-emergency community, health and disaster information in Santa Clara County. Like 911 for emergency service, 211 has been set aside by the Federal Communications Commission for the public to easily access community information.  Callers receive personalized information and referrals from a live, trained call specialist who can answer questions about a variety of nonprofit services and agencies.  211 is confidential, available in over 170 languages and available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

In its fifth year of operation, 211 Santa Clara County continues to be a valuable community resource, connecting callers to thousands of local services like food, housing, employment services and child care.  In times of disaster, 211 serves as a centralized point for valuable, up-to-date information.  Last year more than 25,000 calls were made to 211 Santa Clara County, Silicon Valley's comprehensive information and referral service.
